Old: Zangeki no Reginleiv
Assume spoilers through the whole game, and also the online mode-only stages.

I've been playing a lot of Zangeki no Reginleiv because it is fun with all these lasers and explosions and huge things. I think I'm stage 37 now. YES, I BEAT THE GIANT LASERSHIP.
3/13/2011.
I actually beat Zangeki a few days ago. Jormungandr was looong. Both in actual length and length of the battle. I died after like a half hour on my first attempt so on my second attempt I decided it was taking too much MP to kill the lasers and just focused on his heads. That worked better. And I guess it was funny to have Frigg freaking out for like five stages in a row. ODIN-SAMAAAAAAAA~! And the final stage was pretty annoying for me. I was kind of shocked when I got past the first three parts and learned that, yes, there is another part to this stage and you are going to be raped with lasers yet again and no you do not have enough health to survive. But then everything was okay the next time I tried because I learned that the buildings don't actually make any sense.

I got my own Wii and played through Graces a few times, and also played a ton of Zangeki. Offline I've cleared through Hard and I'm stuck at like, stage 42 on Hardest. Those eyeballs are just way too intimidating. I actually haven't even beat Naglfar with Frey yet because all of my bows for him are terrible and lindwurms are awful now. All those cave stages were pretty fun since everything's way too fast now, and red lobsters are like instantdeath. I beat the last one with red lobsters by cutting them through the floor because that's just how I do things.

Lindwurms and lobsters are totally no big deal.
... No, I still feel the world-destroying depression of getting flamed in the face and thus dying to enemies that swirl around behind you, above you, in front of you, everywhere. I thought it was bad in Hardest offline until I just got used to dodging around everywhere when they were around, but no, it is not okay online in Hardest no matter what. It's just not.
And the lobsters aren't that bad, I guess, but those SWARMS, man. Infinite sigh works.

It turns out that the power of friendship really does overcome all obstacles. Except for the stupid Naglfar and its huge Lindwurm spawns. Screw that noise. But yeah, in Zangeki me and my friend beat all those awful stages we had left on Hard and did about half of Hardest. Also one stage on Inferno, but that was for crystal-farming experiments. But seriously, the strategy that's been getting us through most things involves my friend spearing away all the dangerous stuff while I, uh... don't die and sometimes shoot big dangerous things that take too long to die/fly too high/give birth to too many lindwurms. And SkypeZangeki is great. Keeps me from letting my logic prevail and then we can talk about getting stuck in wells and the silly noises the rhino enemies make for four hours.

Haven't really played any more online, at least not with friends. I did play alone to grind 30000 Dark crystals out of the stage where it's a bunch of skeletons and some dogs. Bestbow soon~!
I did play offline a bit in the last two days, though. ... bestbow soon~! again. Except I need way more of every type of crystal, unlike my online file where all I need is a ton of Water and a bit of Light. I did manage to beat 47 or whatever (same stage I was talking about in online, minus a gold skeleton) on Hardest and got about 5000 from that, so it won't take too long to grind for it when the time of its usefulness comes.
I also finally beat Naglfar as Frey on Hardest. Jeez. I decided to just settle for the Lv4 longbow WHICH COMPLETELY RUINED MY ARMS FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS AND IT STILL FEELS SORE NOW but whatever. My only other options were Lv3 Thor'ssomethingbow (takes WAY WAY too long to charge) and some Lv5 flamesexplosion bow, which still takes too long to charge, at least for Naglfar and its constant turning.
It was surprising how much better things went that time compared to what I remember happening on my last few attempts, though. I was desperate enough to even try greatswords. It was those awful lindwurms, man. This time they hit me maybe twice throughout the entire thing, and uh. It took like an hour or something since 750 damage per hit is a joke at this point of the game at this difficulty. Hint: my arms hurt because the damage was too low.
I tried pretty hard to keep NPCs alive, though, instead of just leaving them to the lindwurms like my previous attempts. That's what made the difference, I guess. They came in swarms at the NPCs, giving me a lot of time to spear a bunch of them while they were together. And, y'know, the thing about how if every lindwurm is attacking you (which will happen if you let your NPCs die) you basically have already lost.
I also beat Loki with Frey! Only this time I chose that explosionbow. It worked because Loki's a dummy and my aim could be awful and it'd still hurt him plenty. Unlike Naglfar where if you miss the blue, you have accomplished nothing. The explosion radius made it easier to actually blow off his legs anyway.
Anyway so I was doing stage 53 and like. The part where the camera zooms in on Volund to show him running away... well, he wasn't running away this time. He was being air juggled by multiple golems. It was hilarious, though extremely rude. I also had to actually go over there and kill/knock back a bunch of things because none of the enemies would actually let him move.
I'm so scared of doing 62 with Frey on Hardest. It was a nightmare on Hard, and I actually had to swap to greatswords for the added damage and range. What are all those fire jerks and spawn towers going to force me to do this time. :( I'll have to try it soon though. All I have left is 52 and 57 with Frey, 53 with Freya, then 55, 58, and 60-63 with everyone. Also relevant, the reason I haven't beat 52 with Frey is because apparently I can't handle two flame giants together as him. I am so screwed when it comes time for 62. You have no idea.

I've played a little Zangeki. Enough to get to about 30% online (I did some Normal Frey stages with a different friend from the one I usually play with) and offline I've cleared everything on Hardest except for 63 with Frey. I just have such a hard time with that second Surt form. He's gotten way too fast since Hard mode, so now my sword range seems insufficient. But I can't use a spear because I need to be able to guard and I can't do his last two forms without a bow.
I got as far as the final form once, but I wasn't able to kill even one of its spears before I died (to golems, actually, not fire explosions). It's cruel to see Alvilda getting infinitely air juggled by arms and lasers during this part. Not sure how I'll beat it. I might just need more health or to not forget that the spears spawn golems.
