Assume spoilers for all of Sacred Blaze, both Law and Chaos sides, etc, though I have not yet beat Law side.

I randomly decided that I should play more SRPGs with "blaze" or some form of that word in their title once I realized that I was playing Blaze Union directly after playing a bunch of Blazing Souls. So um, yesterday I played some Sacred Blaze... which is some obscure SRPG. But yeah, it's adorable-looking. Just. The graphics. http://www.rpgamer.com/games/other/ps2/sacredblaze/screens/sacredblaze18.jpg (copy that URL into your browser instead of clicking, they hate hotlinking) LOOK AT THAT CUTE STYLE AND ALL THOSE CATS.

Otherwise I guess it's just like a typical SRPG so far, not that I've actually done more than the first two battles since I just got it (and I'm doing the Chaos route/side/whatever, so maybe that makes a difference). But yeah, so, I named god. And I was soo disappointed when I realized that just because Japanese is like, syllabaries everywhere, does not mean that they will say what you named people. I just want to hear this angel woman say CAT PLANET-SAMA instead of kami-sama because I HAVEN'T GOTTEN OVER THE FACT THAT I FOUND THIS VIDEO HILARIOUS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdtehRUfzWc

Vilan finally joined, and even though I think his hands are really creepy looking I'm using him because he gives me access to... these sheep/goat servant things. I like seeing them hop around in battle. :( Plus, they randomly speak (should I even say speak? They just make random noises) in English letters. A-and the first one I got was named "DEATH" also in English. Though they don't all have English names. Still though, this game has so much English. Even the main menu in battle is in both English and Japanese. Anyway, I guess I still don't have much to say about this. Other than talking about how adorable this game looks. Even in the beginning when everyone was dying and Kiyora was crying about it because they were dying to protect her, the game was cute. Seriously.

I uh, met Shamana in Sacred Blaze. She's hilarious. And somehow she manages to wear... four hats at once? What?

And I think the game was stalking me or something to see what game series I like. Because her servants kept getting names like Martel (this one had green clothes... ToS anyone?), Estelle (this one had pink hair, totally ToV reference), Piiche (which is like, exactly how Pische/Piche's name was written in Kitten), and stuff. I mean, I'm probably imagining it and it's a coincidence. But still! And all the silly romanizations of things in this game are, well, silly. I got a game over to a boss of the "EVIL-JERRY" variety. Yes, Jerry. Even though he's a big old jellyfish with hearts in his bulb thing. I find l/r mixups far too hilarious. :( I still can't get over the fact that it was "Gremrin" in Kitten instead of, you know, Gremlin.

Got back into Sacred Blaze and beat that stupid Evil Jerry boss. I guess I wasn't paying attention before but Shamana tells you the order his element changes in and that's all I needed to know to kill him without feeling like the world is ending or something. Which makes sense because the game over screen says "WORLD IS OVER" in big letters. Yeah. Stage 3-2 was really obnoxious. I don't like bottlenecks that limit my movement while I'm trying to unlock extra stages and fulfill oaths. :(

4-1 is far worse however! The Wicked Adders kept walking right next to the sand that makes the sand worm (GRAVE KEEPER, what a scary name) come out so it was already running away before I was even ready to deal with it. I spent like three hours trying to complete that stage before I finally suceeded. :( And I also started a Law playthrough and stopped after getting Selphina, the catmage that made me play this game in the first place.

I need to stop playing games that give me completion percentages and whatnot. I'll never beat anything if I keep playing them.

Played more Sacred Blaze! I took a break from it to play Eternal Poison because I was getting tired of it and all the oaths I hadn't done bothered me. But then I put it in today and got my fancy COMPLETE for every stage up to 5-4, which is probably just a boss stage. Must destroy all of these SRPGs! Also, I think I like Magnofica even though she sounds like she might be voiced by Mamiko Noto (I don't know, she bugs me). I just like how she messes with Shamana and Cattent. Reminds me of Harold. I need to get back to my second playthrough of TOD2 one of these days.

I will beat this game! I've finally completed everything (all oaths, treasure, extra stages) up to 9-1, which is my next stage. And apparently the last stage is 9-X2, whatever that's supposed to mean. So I'm close. BULLETS OF RANDOM STUFF NOW:

• It is weird that they write Tengai's name in katakana (or English) everywhere except for dialogue. Even though his name when he speaks is written as テンガイ, everyone will always refer to him with kanji. But nowhere else!
• I don't know how people have the patience to do the Quidam/Tengai oaths where you have to dodge a certain number of attacks. Well, without Shamana's Hit Down, anyway. Even with that it was annoying. I really hope someone has something like it on Law, because I'm sure Quidam's oaths aren't going to change.
• When I completed Kiyora's Event Oath, she made this smile with unangry eyebrows (she like never has unangry eyebrows!) and it made me feel like I was such a good little godperson. Yay for Cat Planet-sama. Well, she smiled like that again at the end of 8-2 but still.
• It's kind of cool that you get to go to Orgen later on Chaos. I wonder if Law goes to Karasha. Although... I'm not looking forward to it. The music in Orgen was super boring for that late in the game, especially since it came after Ryou (which had awesome music) and Sajitta (which had above average music).
• I hate Cattent! Not only do I have no idea what his Event Oath is talking about, but it was such a huge pain to do his last battle oath. Which was killing some "chimera" boss. Except he's so weak I could only do 1 damage. :( Normally, I'm the type of person who'd just deal with it and succeed anyway. But the boss does way too much damage and one of his attacks gives you a countdown to petrification, which of course I can't heal when I'm struggling to just stay alive. So taking too long could kill me anyway. I ended up having to wait until later when I could get new equipment before I could deal enough damage/survive well enough for it to stop being unreasonably difficult.
• Kiyora's oath on 7-2 was kind of the same issue. But in reverse... You had to kill the boss with Kiyora and do 20% overkill damage, and for me that meant he had to be at exactly 1 HP because her strongest attack was only doing 195 damage. 20% of the boss's HP is 194.4. :( So yeah. And getting him down to 1 was really obnoxious because I only had two people that could do less than 18 damage per hit. One of my sheep servants with a spell, and then Shamana by smacking him with her book. Only my sheep kept dying and Shamana needed to be healing all the time. So I waited, again, and then after 8-2 this awesome little girl I'd been granting wishes for for the entire game showed up and gave me an awesome sword. And then the oath was totally easy. Thank you, little swordgirl!
• MAMONO! MAMONO WO! KUWASERO, KUWASERO, KUWASEROOOOOOOO! Um, it feels good to fully complete a stage the first time you do it. I'll never have to go back to 8-2. I mean, I've redone so many stages just because it's usually difficult to complete everything at once. I'm at 70 hours now... and I'm sure most of that is actually from redoing stages for completion.

Sacred Blaze is defeated! Going all the way through 9-12 before doing 9-X was not worth it. Although I guess now I don't feel like I took the easy way out? Well anyway. The only thing I really feel like mentioning is the final boss's apparently explosive digestive system. He has this attack where he eats someone, and the person floats around in darkness after... and there's suddenly explosions? So yeah. Of course I'm not totally done with this game because I still have Law to deal with. Also for some reason Flight-Plan likes low max levels that you are likely to reach without grinding. Eternal Poison's was only 30 and Sacred Blaze's was 50. Also 90 HOURS WHY.
