Assume spoilers for the entire game, all optional content, and also the first Tales of Destiny since ToD2 is one massive mess of a story.

TOD2 REPLAY, BEGIN. I'm still at the very start, just before entering the ruins, but yeah. Yay for random last-minute newgame decisions on a Sunday night of the week where you've got a test for Japanese, an oral test for Japanese, and a test for Linguistics! Go me!

But yeah, doing it on Hard mode. In a game where -5,000,000 grade happens every boss fight except for the last fight with Barbatos. At least when you're me. :( We'll see how that works out. But yeah, something about KIREI NA TOIRE DA. Yes, game, because toilets are known to be pretty. Nah I'm joking it probably meant clean in that context, but still. :( Maybe if they weren't always shoving Apple Gummies into the toilets, they'd be cleaner.

I beat the first fight with Barbatos. He was such a massive jerk on Hard, and even used Crazy Comet once. :( I guess he was angry that I had to use an item. BURUAAAAAAAA and whatnot. So random things:
• I somehow managed to get +21.66 grade from that first boss despite silly AI Kyle constantly running up at the worst times and getting raped.
• I LIKE REALA AT THE VERY START OF THE GAME. When she's all "NO, KYLE, YOU ARE NOT THE HERO I AM SEARCHING FOR LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY." But then she goes all notjerk after she talks to Philia.
• I keep forgetting about the skits. :( I wish it would yell at me about them like most of the other Tales games do.
• I will always love the cat in Aigrette that you can push as if it was a box. Push it aside to get a chest. AND THEN KEEP PUSHING IT JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN. It just looks so silly.

I don't actually have much to say about it because I didn't play a ton. I somehow ended up with like 60 grade when I fought Forneus. Must be that Increase Grade option I selected at the grade shop. I like it it makes me feel better about myself. :( His waterlasers were annoying and kind of painful. Also there's some turtle in Leane on that little island you can see if you go on the right lilypad path. And he falls in the water if you walk away. :( And hurr, Loni is scared of ghosts. I really would never have expected that from someone like him. Hearing him freak out and stutter in those skits was so hilarious though.

• I like the skit where Kyle, Loni, and Reala start a snowball fight, and then Judas comes in and tries to get them to stop, and they just keep interrupting him by throwing snowballs at him. :( AND THEN HE GETS HIS SWORD OUT BECAUSE SNOWBALL FIGHTS ARE SRS BUSINESS.
• I still wonder what this game would be like if I had actually played ToD first. I should probably stop playing sequels before playing the first game...
• BOSSES ARE STILL ABSURDLY HARD EVEN THOUGH I'M BETTER AT THE GAME NOW. Ose was such a jerk, hiding behind Sabnock or whatever and spitting dirt at people who are trying to attack. :( I got really horrible grade from that fight.
• Kyle is delusional or something. :( He just can't accept the fact that maybe he never became a hero.
• CHERIK IS THE BEST PLACE FOR RANDOM THINGS LYING AROUND. There's the... I think it was an octopus that wiggles its tentacles around when you examine it, and there's that huge fish near it that flops around, and then the hole that a random fish pops out of... AND THE TOILETS HERE ARE NOT PRETTY. So weird.
• Man, the boss at the Heat River or whatever place. For him and that entire dungeon, I was Nanaly, having so much fun spamming Splash and activating that Enchant that recovers 10% TP every time I cast it. It only costs like 15 and the time it takes to cast pretty much makes up for what the Enchant doesn't recover, so it was great. :( And Volcanic Ray kept just barely missing me somehow. Nanaly must have some weird hitbox that I never noticed before. AND GETTING 78.02 GRADE FROM A BOSS FIGHT FEELS SO GOOD.

11/13/2010.
• All the bears lying around in Nanaly's house are cute until you see the giant slabs of meat in the kitchen area. :(
• Why is Nanaly's AI not cool enough. :( She never uses her action enchants when she should be constantly using them because she has the SP recovery to get away with it. Not that she even uses spells unless you set her to the strategy that's like "ONLY USE SPELLS, ARROWS ARE BAD" which I don't want anyway. BUT IT'S LIKE THE ONLY WAY FOR HER TO BE USEFUL IS IF I'M PLAYING AS HER. But I want to be Judas. :( Maybe Harold will solve my problems with all of her crazy spells, so I won't even want Nanaly in my party.
• I really wish I was paying attention. :( There's this part after Fortuna zaps everyone back where Loni says something that is not what his dialogue box says he's saying. I bet it was funny, whatever it was.
• ELRAINE SHOULD EAT A DICTIONARY OR SOMETHING. All throughout the battle, all I could hear was OROKA NA... OROKA NA... and then the first thing she says when it's over is... OROKA NA. WHY. I hate her and her crazy lightsaber or whatever. :( I hope she liked dying to constant Burn Strike, though. It made it seem so easy. I guess it was revenge for my first playthrough, since she was so difficult for me back then that it was like ruining my life or something. :( And man, not having Reala around was pretty tough for the dungeons. Loni makes a terrible healer unless you've been making his casting speed nothorrible... and I hadn't been.

A lot of this is going to be about Harold, just a warning.

• I love how hilarious she looks when she kicks Loni after we beat up her silly robot. It's just the weirdest pose ever.
• I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HER NAME IS. I went into room and rummaged through all her stuff, and found like five different names. Is it Camille? Jennifer? One of the names I don't remember? Or is it none of the above? She's so crazy. :(
• I love how much Harold messes with the party, especially Loni. Always joking about experiments and crazy procedures and whatnot.
• Dycroft. :( That area with all those circular platforms and all those paths. Everything looks the same! Seeing ToD2's version of that area brought back bad memories of my first playthrough, where I got lost and somehow ended up back at the beginning, then tried to follow a guide but got even more lost. Of course, I knew how I could get directions from the game itself, but... all the fights at this part of the game were so hard for me that I felt like it was better to wander around lost instead of risking a game over. This time I made a map. A very crude, rainbowy map.
• SO IS THAT A :3 FACE HAROLD OFTEN MAKES IN HER VICTORY POSES. I've never used her before I don't know this stuff. :(
• The boss in the Spiral Cave was a jeeeerk this time. I don't even remember it from my first playthrough, but once it got below halfish HP, it just started exploding and killing everyone instantly. Before that it was actually really easy, everyone being awesome, me abusing Nanaly's TP recovering Enchant (I so love never running out of TP and having crazy enough SP recovery that you can activate the enchant every single spell) and all the AI people just being useful. But then near the end, I ended up having to spam Wind Slash just because it was fast enough to keep him from moving closer and killing people.
• I TOTALLY FEEL BAD FOR CHAL. I remember there was some skit in ToDR where he was talking about how horrible it was to be around Dymlos and Atwight, how they were all lovey-dovey and whatnot. And it's just. I sympathize. :( It's all so unsubtle and public. It's so bad the party's sitting there watch them hug and have some sort of embarrassing heartfelt discussion and they don't even seem to notice!
• Barbatos again! Except he was actually pretty easy this time. :( All he did was sit around countering everything I did and spamming Evil Sphere. He didn't even use any of the crazy stuff he did in the first fight even though I kept ignoring the fact that he doesn't want you to do certain things. Except jumping behind him. But I didn't avoid that, I abused it. Because the attack he does to counter that kind of pushes him to the other side of the screen, which kept him away from Reala and Harold. :(
• MIKTRAN, THOSE FRILLS. WHERE DID THEY COME FROM.

I beat final Barbatos. :( So not fun this time. I actually had to pay attention to the things he didn't want me to do, and he never pulled out any crazy spells. Having to take down the last half of his HP when he rapes you instantly if you use any spells is boooriiiing. And dangerous when he starts using Genocide Braver since it's not like you can just dodge that. It kept raping most of my party members. But I beat him (used pretty much all of my items but shh) so I guess I can continue or something. I also dodged around Burn Strike with Houryuu Zankouken in the dungeon before. Just saying.

I spent all day today trying to get through the Aqua Labyrinth in ToD2. My first problem was that Divine Saber is just too awesome. So awesome it kills everyone if everyone happens to get hit by it. So I stopped fighting things that use that because I am smart. BUT THEN SUDDENLY BARBATOS. BUT I WAS LIKE, OKAY, I CAN DO THIS, I DID IT BEFORE. It was just as awful and long as before, with all the spellhate. I also used up all my Life Bottles and was actually in the process of dying (I had to do something to stop Barbatos from Genocide Bravering Loni while he spammed stuff, so I started casting some spell) when he finally died.

So I leave because pff Harold and Reala are dead and I am without Life Bottles this will never work. And then I come back and fight Barbatos again. Only this time he brings along his lovely friends Sabnockorwhatever and Dantalion. I totally cannot beat this fight. :( I can't even last long enough to kill ONE of them, even if I switch to Normal. Why is this game so hard. :( WHY DO THE SWORDS DO NOTHING BURUUAAA
