mokasuiSpoilers through the entire game. These are my notes from when I played the Japanese version of the game (I played the English version a billion times before this).

VALKYRIE PROFILE 2 YAAY.
• It is cool that the Japanese version has support for 1080i but it does not work right with my TV for some reason. Like my TV is even all "oh, this is 1080i now" but it looks pretty bad still. 480p is where it's at. If only my TV knew what older consoles were talking about!
• I wonder how Alicia ended up with such nice clothes that somehow fit her perfectly. Nobody else dresses how she does and I don't think anyone would be sending her money or anything... I mean how did she live in undeadpoisonswamplightningland all alone like that? Silmeria can't just magic everything into amazing perfection. Otherwise none of these games would exist.
• DYLAN HAS VILAN'S VOICE ACTOR WHY. Their names are even similar and they both hang out protecting some princess.
• I really like the music in Solde, but only if my volume is up really loud? I guess it must be all that bass.
• Dallas and some Einherjar are Hiroshi Kamiya. This is probably the first time I've heard him in a game.
• It's always amusing when the boss in Serdberg kills himself. He just haaas to fly backwards before he can swipe you with his tail, I guess, and then he just falls off because he can apparently only fly when there's ground directly beneath him. Such amazing logic, VP2.
• Leone sounds just as unsurprised and uninterested when she hears about the "other comrade" as she does in English. It's just kind of like "Oh? That's nice." I actually kind of wonder if some of the English voice actors got together and played the game beforehand, because they apparently received no real direction but actually did a really good job. And then there are a lot of lines like these where it's said so similarly that you have to wonder.
• Rufus's ring falls off sooo easily. I mean, he gets zapped a little and falls over, and it goes flying off. And it falls off of Alicia really easily too. It must have been designed to be worn by someone with huge fingers. Giants?!
• Alicia is the only JRPG character I know of that actually apologizes every time she steals something from an NPC's house. "I'M SORRY I'LL USE THIS WISELY SO DON'T HAUNT ME AFTER YOU STARVE TO DEATH BECAUSE EVERYONE'S POOR IN VP AND I JUST STOLE ALL YOUR MONEY"
• I never had problems with the Dragon Zombie until I did my level 1 playthrough of the game. And then I learned that he always, ALWAYS tries to use his great magic as soon as he can. This was a problem in this playthrough too for some reason.
• So when Hrist goes to get some Einherjar to come with her while she searches for Odin, and then leaves the room... the door magically closes behind her. Valhalla is one messed up place.
• Freya's neck should be broken after Hrist's laser. Just look at the way she fell!
• Akiko Yajima is one of my favourite voice actresses and she is great as Alicia and all, but... Valkyrie? No. The moment she said kakugo I actually laughed a little because it was such an unfitting voice. If she could keep her voice consistently with the depth and uh, roughness I guess of her last line in Nibelung Valesti, it might work (though it still sounds so young!) but she either cannot or did not, so it's awkward.
• Lezard needs to gain some weight or something I can never combo properly on him because muscle memory makes me think "PUSH THIS BUTTON RIGHT NOW EVEN THOUGH THE ENEMY IS STILL TOO HIGH TO BE HIT BY THE ATTACK"
• Also I feel stupid because I only just realized that Rufus puts his ring on a different finger when he gets it back. Out of the bajillion times I've played this game, I only just realized. Or maybe I just never watch this part of the ending. I don't even remember.
