I have finally resumed playing Dragon Shadow Spell after a long period of time dreading the thought of playing it because it made me wander around on a ship for an hour listening to this horrible 4-second long song before it let me continue with my fun after that failed Tarisman battle. So, stuff:

• SUIHI IS CASSHERN. Tohru Furuya's voice will always sound odd to me whenever it's not Casshern. In fact, it's still weird even when it's Casshern. There's just something about the way he talks.
• Raika's still the bestest, except this isn't Rebirth Moon so Raika is a boy. But still, he's pretty strong. TOO BAD ALL HE EVER DOES BETWEEN BATTLES IS USE HIS LAPTOP. Why does he neglect that amazing-looking TV he's got in there?
• I'm not really a fan of the art direction in this. Everything kind of looks happy and I guess plain? But hey. The music is great. The game is becoming preetty fun. And Tatsuki is actually pretty cool looking but she was the least useful character in battle and then
• TARISMAN IS APPROACHING FAST. And then everyone died and Tatsuki did a super flashy attack and was never seen again. Raika better be right about her still being alive. But what if he is just lying to Kaito because Kaito is dumb. :(
• SITH IS A VERY CUTE CAT. I would never write it out that way personally but that is how they spell it out in the game, so. NEEDS MORE SIDHE I CAN NEVER SEE "SITH" AND PRONOUNCE IT CORRECTLY. At some point Sith started sleeping on Raika's bed. GOD DAMN FABULOUS RAIKA AND HIS FABULOUS CAT. Why are you not the main character.
• Gawain has exactly 11 cactuses in his room. Why.
• Also Dryads are really cute. Holding their cute little apple and bouncing it on their heads!
• There is a lot of random Engrish in this game before battles. I WISH I TELL YOU. BREATH OF SILENT-WRAITH. I remember there being a lot more but that's all I bothered writing down.
• Therese is really pretty, Dine is really cute, and Sara's pretty cool. Sara joined my party and dazzled me with her fabulous scarf and 2 BP awesomeskill that makes everyone superagile like she is.
• Also Sara has four teddy bears in her room. Not nearly as excessive as Gawain's cactuses...
• The fact that there's a skill called "ZOC Erase" frightens me after all the ZOC shenanigans I dealt with in Sacred Blaze and Eternal Poison. But at least it's mine thanks to these lovely squids.
• I had chosen to spell ディーネ as Dine because I had no idea what it was supposed to be. At least with Therese's full name I found all the answers by remembering that she's in Germany. But I cannot find anything like this that is German, and Suihi was saying stuff about her being a spirit. So I was like "MUST BE UNDINE" so I spelled it that way. And then she goes and reveals her true name and it's Aquadine. Oh well it doesn't look too terrible with the Aqua part so I will stick with it. Not even going to try to deal with this... merupomeenu thing they spat at me earlier as her "last name."
• I don't like neutrals in SRPGs. There were these filthy neutral squids in the last fight I did and at first I started beating them up, not even realizing they were neutral. And then I saw the dudes I was supposed to be killing start punching a different squid, and I felt terrible and restarted. Didn't touch the squids, just moved forward to get to the jerks. AND SO THE SQUIDS GANG UP ON ME. I SAVED THEM BY SOFT RESETTING MY GAME WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS TO ME. So I reset again and slaughtered them all because they were jerks. :(
• I can't remember if there was always a cactus in Kaito's room... I just noticed it when I started Chapter 4 and it seems really suspicious. I don't think it was there, but I seriously don't remember. :( Gawain better not have done anything strange as thanks for helping Sara...

I'm up to Chapter 9 in Dragon Shadow Spell. Sara is a picky eater! Just like me! Except she likes yogurt and potatoes and I think she was about to say she disliked fish, so we probably can't be friends even though she also dislikes milk. Also I liked how the Engrishoftheday before the fight wtih Garuda and all of Ra's little posse was "The poison pink"... which they later used as a title for a game, minus the definite article. It was also an entertaining fight because as soon as it began Garuda wiped the floor with Prinveil (who summoned him in the first place). And then proceeded to wipe the floor with me but that's not very funny.

And speaking of that Engrish, there was one fight that said "No reason! This is Rar!" which is less funny now that I realize Rar's probably supposed to be Ra's name. But what kind of name is that?! Also when he and Bista moved into the ship, Djehuty had to move his room. To Raika's. AND NOW RAIKA DOESN'T HAVE THAT FABULOUS TV ANYMORE WHAT DID HE DO WITH IT I WANT IT.

Also I kind of like the Tarisman battles. Cerberus was really fun because he was so speedy and painful. Fafnir (or Fab(ulous)nir if I am to believe that bu) was fun too, although he kept freezing everyone that wasn't Helma with Icicle Edge. But I burned him so it was okay, and then I learned how amazing the Party Mode-only combo attack skill thing is when you can get everyone in on it. I did 2232 damage to him in one hit! Awesome thing to know. It made me feel better about Tiamat having Mega Cure... although it was only healing like 350 HP, which I was doing in one hit from most of my dudes. He was super easy in comparison to the others... Of course that was also because I kept poisoning him. I love games that let me inflict status effects on bosses.

It's been a while. I beat Dragon Shadow Spell. All I really remember is Sieg (I don't even know if this is what his name is supposed to be since Japanese is pretty incompatible with German consonants) freaking out over Miriam, challenging Kaito to a duel and me losing because he dual wields chainsaws. Yeah. And a ridiculous string of final battles which involved a lot of Ayako Kawasumi and lasers. AND THE BEST NEW GAME+ BONUS SELECTION THING EVER. http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/446/dsci0365.jpg

And, kind of obviously, started a new game. With permaTatsuki and Buena now! Because they are cool. And then right after you're supposed to lose Tatsuki, I went to Heaven's Door and selected all my dudes (Tatsuki included) and once I exited the menu she suddenly disappeared like she died... so I selected her again and she didn't show up at all. Checked her status, and she's got 0 HP. Thankfully that was apparently a glitch and never happened again. Game was going to make me cry if it didn't actually let me USE her when I paid so much money to be able to. Also the Lust Quest is horrible when you neglect Gawain and Djehuty and kind of Raika too. I'm having a much harder time with it than I did in my first playthrough. :( Like, so hard I finally saw the game over screen. Multiple times. And still haven't beat it!

I found out I needed an item to unlock the last ten sectors of Heaven's Door, and of course it's an item you need to select on the NEXT PLAYTHROUGH GOODIES thing. So I finished my fifth playthrough and started my sixth. I went through and cleared sectors 41-47 as soon as I could access Heaven's Door, and then died a terrible death to 48. Those disgusting Chimeras and their disgusting AP+1 and heyIcanattacktwiceinaturn. Level 90 enemies everywhere, too. Didn't think it would be such a big deal since Bahamut was a piece of cake and the other Sectors weren't that bad.

So I went through chapter 5 or so of the story, or whichever chapter Lust is in. I had carried over all my dudes so I wouldn't have to wait forever to get Vista and Helma back since I was using them, so Lust was filled with level 50 jerks and it was terrible. But I beat it with only two deaths and no game overs. So I thought, "If I can handle that, I can handle the 48th Sector." I was even pooling all my EXP onto Painkiller, so he was in his 60s and everyone else was in their low to mid 50s. But then there was an albino Chimera, and my CT was sliced to 128. :( Ran out of CT way too early to win. Tried again and just failed because I don't know.

Like, I remember even using Party Mode to make sure the first Chimera died before it could ruin anyone, and things were going kind of okay. Although there was a lot of reviving going around. Eventually I was able to go to the stupid target, and I was very depressed to see it have 5000 HP. I was lacking in CT after all that time spent on all the junk it throws at you right at the start, and people were out of MP/dead with no chance of revival. I had like only Painkiller, Helma, and Vista left.

So I poisoned him with Vista right away, had Painkiller smack him from behind or something, and on Helma's turn I just stopped and counted things. Would have lost before being able to do anything if I had done anything other than what I did. So I went over, smacked him with Helma (just a normal attack since she had no MP) and that was enough to give her 1 BP. Cancelled the end of her turn and activated Party Mode to smack him with Vista and Painkiller again, and he was at like 1000 HP but I only had 1 CT left and had to end my turn. :(

And then I tried again and there was another albino Chimera and SO MUCH RAGE. I just gave up after that. At least I only need one more albino Chimera before I can get whatever its special skill was.

Also decided to change up my party. I was using Kaito/Therese/Helma/Vista/Tatsuki/Painkiller... but just about every enemy in these last ten sectors has voided real elements (at least Tera Megido still works, which both Therese and Helma have) and magic damage is always disappointing anyway. I'm going to try to swap them out for Sara and Hughes. Hughes because he's the next strongest Attackperson without being infinitely slow or not knowing how into diagonals and Sara because she's speedy and awesome and mine is already set up as a healer anyway, with Revival (which was the only thing Helma was really good for once my 48 attempts really got going).

I also gave Tatsuki Revival and gave both Painkiller and Hughes Venom Attack because hey Painkiller has almost max Code and all the jerks in 48 except for the Chimeras and Elements can be poisoned so why not have it on more than just Vista? Hopefully I'll be able to beat it this time. Otherwise I guess I'll just beat it again for all that delicious EXP in the AYAKO KAWASUMI EVERYWHERE and LASERS EVERYWHERE fights just before the final one/two.

I don't remember what I changed with my setup, but I finally cleared all of Heaven's Door except for the 50th Sector (and was intensely disappointed because the music was still the same boring song that played for the past 49 sectors WHY CAN'T I AT LEAST HAVE HEART CREATURE PLAY MORE THAN ONCE IN THE ENTIRE GAME). Couldn't beat Nirvana or whatever the boss's name was. But I did some albino grinding (I hope this sounds really weird) and now I have AP+1 and attackx2 on most of my dudes. Also thinking that replacing Vista with Sieg might make it better since he's stronger.

SO I FINALLY DID ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING IN DRAGON SHADOW SPELL except for grinding for enough moneys to buy the joke ending item. I don't know when I'll have the heart to do that.

All I had left to do was beat Nirvana, so after getting all those cool albino enemy skills I went in with a party of: Kaito (Lv.55), Tatsuki (Lv.53), Therese (Lv.60), Painkiller (Lv.99), Sieg (Lv.55), and Hugues (Lv.77). It was actually pretty easy and I really didn't need to have Painkiller and Hugues at such high levels (though it certainly helped). I ended up getting Painkiller at Nirvana's side, Sieg on the other side, Kaito and Hugues in front of him. He turned to face Sieg for the last half (which was the best thing ever because then my strongest dude was getting two back attacks per turn).

Tatsuki mostly sat around recovering MP from early Revival uses, and to be at the ready to revive Kaito or Hugues while not in a place where she'd get hit by anything. Therese did most of the healing, actually. I had her camp out near Painkiller, but often I'd have her run across the screen for BP so she'd be ready to move and use Aquaria as soon as it became necessary. Which was most of the time. Felt weird to be using someting that costs 3 BP as my main healing method for a fight, but it worked wonderfully.
